Charnwood Cove 1 with log stand stove illogan Cornwall

This installation was carried out over 2 days allowing the customer to do the building work himself.
The liner was pulled up the chimney on this occasion because there was a long 45 degree run in the chimney that made feeding in from the top awkward.
Also the customer wanted to keep the flue pipe stainless, we polished the flue at the end of the installation.

The materials for the job, liner, stainless pipe, cowl, rockwool, lightweight insulating back fill.

The customer has done all the building work, once the fire plate has been installed the opening and hearth will be finished.

The liner in place ready to be installed.

The fire plate was an unusual shape so we made a cardboard template before cutting it out of steel.

The finished fire plate with the adaptor hole.

The fire plate has been installed and painted black, in the centre you can just make out the flue adaptor that the stove pipe will attach to.

looking down on the pot shows the new liner and back fill.

We returned a week later when the opening and hearth had been finished and painted.

The completed stove installation.

A close up shows the log stand with kiln dried wood and stainless stove pipe.

The stove is lite, this first burn removes any manufacturing oils and grease.
We supple a bag of kiln dried wood with every stove installation, this allows the customer to see how well
the stove burns with good quality wood.

Mega 4.5 wood and multifuel burning stove Perranporth Cornwall

This stove installation will be the third variation to happen to this fire place. The original open fire has already been bricked up and an LPG gas fire installed that has know been disconnected and removed.
We will open the fire place out lay a new piece of slate at the back but keeping the original hearth.
The stove was supplied by the customer and we believe that it is the first one of its kind to be installed in Cornwall.

We started of with a plain chimney breast and the existing hearth.
The gas fire had previously been removed and made safe.

With the opening complete we have installed a new lintel.
The existing hearth was also taken up and will be relayed later.

The opening has been lined and bonded ready for the finish coat of plaster.

The next day a finish coat is applied.

All the building work is complete and the existing hearth is relayed.

In this photo you can see the new liner and the insulation back fill.

We fitted the T to the stove before placing it in the opening to aid installation.

The completed stove installation along with some kiln dried wood and a carbon monoxide detector.

Morso 6140 wood burning stove installation Penzance Cornwall

This installation varies slightly from the norm because the customer had no chimney in the bungalow. We came out of the Stove as normal with single wall flue pipe into a twin wall chimney system through the loft and out through the roof.

This shows the end wall of the bungalow and the markings on the floor that the customer has made to decide on the stoves location.

We have cut through the ceiling and fixed the fire plate and the first piece of twin wall flue in place making sure that it will line up with the stove.

The slate hearth has been installed and the stove positioned. The customer wanted the stove offset to provide a storage space beside the stove.

The single wall flue pipe has been installed between the stove and the twin wall in the ceiling.

The roof before the installation of the flue starts.

This shows the lead slate with a stainless steal cowl, the twin wall flue and top hat.

Charnwood Country 4 wood & multifuel burning stove cambourne Cornwall

We are installing a charnwood country 4 stove replacing the existing open fire and surround.
The open fire has not been used for some time and an electric fire is being used.

After removing the carpet and laying down dust sheets we can start to remove the existing fire place and chimney breast.

The rubble is put into rubble sacks and carried out to the skip.

The existing flue way has nesting material completely blocking it, we have removed as much as possible from the top and begin to rod and brush from the bottom

This shows the nesting material that had built up.

With the flue way cleaned we can now install the new liner.

With the liner in position a quick clean up and carpets replaced we will return to fit the stove once the builder has been in to plaster the room and ceiling.

We returned after the builder had been in to plaster the walls, the customer has put one coat of paint on.
The slate hearth has been cut and layed.

The Country 4 stove has been placed in position and the flue pipe connected. Also the wall has been plastered between the wall and slate hearth. Skirting will be put up to the slate.

The complete flue and fire plate installation.

Graham Paints the flue with a mat finish high temperature stove and flue paint.

The finished installation burning beautifully with kiln dried wood.

Charnwood Cove 2B wood & multifuel burning stove

This is the start of the installation of a Charnwood Cove 2B. The stove has a integral boiler that will be connected to a thermal store that will also have an electric boiler and solar panels connected to it. The central heating will also come directly from the thermal store.
The picture above shows the chimney breast as we found it with an opening for an open fire that had been blocked with pillows and wood to stop the rain coming in.

We are going to open the fire place out install a new lintel and re plaster.

Stitch drilling for the new lintel.

This shows the new lintel and opening.

Hear you can see the partition that we have installed on the end of the chimney breast to allow us to run the 28mm copper pipe from the stove into the loft space, this is behind the insulation on the right hand side.
The grey pipe insulation has the flow and return pipes for the central heating.

The chimney breast is relined and is ready for plastering.
in this photo it is possible to see the two 28mm copper pipes for the stove.

The chimney breast has been plastered and will take approximately 3 days to dry enough to get the first coat of paint on.
At the bottom you can see the template for the slate hearth, the leading edge will be curved to mirror the top of the Charnwood Cove stove that is being installed.
The existing floors are being replaced, once this is done then the hearth will be fitted.

The new floor has been laid and the hearth has been cut and polished. The hearth is set onto a bed of adhesive.

Just a few final adjustments.

The finished hearth will be allowed to set and then treated with a satin finish stain block. There is also a mat and gloss finish.

Once the closer plate and new liner is in place we backfill will leca which helps to insulate the flue to improve performance.

Here you can see the framework and header of the solar panel that will be connected to the thermal store alongside the stove installation.

The 30 tubes have been installed to the header and completes the solar system installation.
In the background you can see the new cowl on the chimney pot.

The stove installation is complete the only thing left to do is light the stove checking for correct operation and circulation of hot water.

Here you can see the thermal store, solar pipework/system, stove pipework and central heating manifolds and pumps.

On the other side of the thermal store is the 12KW electric boiler.
